BEST BET: LITTLE EXPENSIVE (5th) SPOT PLAY: CROWN (9th) Early $5K GTD Pick 4: 4 / 2,4,6 / 4 / 1,3 = $3 Mid $5K GTD Pick 4: 1,3 / 3,8 / 5 / 5 = $2 Late $5K GTD Pick 4: 4 / 5 / 1,2,8 / 1,6 = $3 Race 1: $75K Delmonica Hanover Conso II - $5K GTD Pick 4 (4) PURE HOPE S has been swimming in deeper waters out of town for the last six weeks but did wire a softer field when last seen here. Everything from this barn has been firing of late (9 wins in last 21 starts as of this writing) and I'm expecting early speed. (1) BRAVO ANGEL S owns two wins on the year and both came over this track, albeit against easier foes. She should push away hard to look for pocket position. (7) WILD JIGGY S could get an easy lead if #4 gets the front and allows this stablemate a free pass. Still, she's 1-for-18 in her career. [DRF HARNESS: Get free Harness Eye PPs for this card and watch live!] Race 2: $75K James Lynch Memorial Conso II (2) KNIGHTS TALE was on quite a roll before catching Sire Stakes foes and settling for this last time. Wrenn should have her firing out here to secure position as the favorite or second choice. (4) HELLO YES HI is another capable of coming off the gate well and she's the stablemate of the top pick; form is fine. (6) TREACHEROUS PENNY comes off two blowout wins versus conditioned foes and certainly has a shot, though she might be overbet. [DRF BETS: Wager on today's Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: $100K Max Hempt Memorial Conso II (4) ACT FAST has been a victim of circumstance way too often but finds a spot where he should shine today. Gingras opted off #5 to drive this one. (3) HUNGRY MAN has some ability and certainly owns the early speed to make the top. He's one to fear if the top one doesn't bring his best. (5) GUNG HO rebounded nicely last week but needs to show more. Race 4: $100K Sebastian K Invitational Trot (1) SOUTHWIND TYRION missed to a pair of horses that would be heavy favorites in this spot. The inside post presents some challenges depending on how many horses leave, but he is the best horse. (3) KEG STAND is an interesting player in that he raced well last time after missing four weeks and could be much tighter now. (6) HILLEXOTIC comes off a win on this size track and we know he has the early speed to make his presence felt early. The question will be whether the #4 and #5 go hard early. Race 5: $100K Earl Beal Memorial Conso II (5) LITTLE EXPENSIVE gets major class relief here and seems to have found new life with hobbles added. This is clearly his race to lose. (4) BRACE FOR LANDING is certain to be leaving inside the top pick and seems destined to be chasing him home if they both behave. Zeron jumping ship on #7 and joining the team is a nice plus. (7) TE AMO LINDY finally got his first career win last time but won't be helped by the outside post this week; needs Dunn magic. Race 6: $125K James Lynch Memorial Conso I - $5K GTD Pick 4 (3) FRONT PAGE STORY is no match for the likes of Sylvia Hanover but these are right up her alley. If she has an aggressive try in her this seems like the spot to let her loose and see what she has under the hood. (1) RACIN HUNGRY raced well in the Tompkins when finishing just behind the top pick; main contender. (8) QUICK E is undefeated in eight starts this year and she has the early speed to get position from the tough outside post. That said, unless she is around 4-1 or higher, I'd bet against her. Race 7: $125K Delmonica Hanover Conso I (3) BELLA MACCHIATO was shuffled out and blocked in the stretch last time with the result being a break late in the mile. There is no reason not to put her on the lead here and avoid any trouble. (8) FASHION ANNIE came up plenty short last time after missing four weeks. The post is an issue but she is fast enough to compete. (6) HEART ON FIRE scored a major upset in the Oaks elim but came back to earth quickly in the final. She fits here but I like the top one much better. Race 8: $200K Max Hempt Memorial Conso I - Pick 5 (5) KEN HANOVER got unlucky last time when every horse inside of him left hard and his 26 3/5 final quarter was simply not enough to catch a leader who rated the half. Roland Mallar trainee has talent and may finally get the chance to blast to the top and show it today. (7) ANNAPOLIS HANOVER may just be the best horse in this field, but he comes with the uncertainty of a seven week absence after fighting Lyme's disease. He does have two solid qualifiers and ample early speed to overcome the outside post; adds Lasix. (8) AMMO hasn’t been able to find himself this year but can certainly go with these given the right set of circumstances. Delaware champion (4) GAITWAY GUY was undefeated at 2 and has gone on a good run of late. How good is he? We'll find out here. Race 9: $200K Earl Beal Memorial Conso I (5) CROWN just doesn't seem to pick up his speed on the big track but seems to get around the half and five-eighths fast enough to compete. Sears should have him in position early against a field with no killers. (2) FATHER STOSH raced well last time and has no shot into a slow pace the start prior. He could offer some value here. (7) CRANTINI will be heading to the front for sure and if he gets there without too much trouble he could get a big piece. Race 10: $250K Delmonica Hanover (5) BOND is back on the five-eighths where she is undefeated. Given her return to form last time in the Oaks, I'm expecting Svanstedt to gun her to the top here with a much more aggressive drive. (7) SECRET VOLO is another who has the ability to fire hard off the gate but more importantly she can take air and keep chugging along, meaning a bad trip won't mean she can't compete. (4) HEAVEN HANOVER bested the top pick in the Oaks. If Tetrick fires out she should be in position to win. If he elects to race her from behind again, his chances go down severely. Race 11: $250K James Lynch Memorial - $5K GTD Pick 4 (4) TWIN B JOE FRESH is off a spectacular performance at The Red Mile, and after a slow start to the year she's really been excellent just about every race. The Grand Circuit action moves to the smaller track this week and that might provide this gal with the tactical edge she needs to hand (5) SYLVIA HANOVER her first loss of the year. The latter has been unstoppable in 2023 but has never raced on a track smaller than seven-eighths and her off-the-pace style doesn't suit this track as well. She seems worth a bet against at very short odds. (3) SWEET AMIRA has turned in some really nice miles but gets tested for class versus the top pair. Race 12: $300K Max Hempt Memorial (5) CONFEDERATE is simply too good right now to pick against and seemingly can win this race regardless of trip. (1) CHRISTCHURCH could improve in his second start on Lasix. It would be very interesting to see what would happen if Gingras just let him fly off the gate as fast as he can on the smaller track. (3) STOCKADE SEELSTER has found his form up in Canada but will need to pick up his game in a big way to play with the top pick. Interesting that Miller joins the team as Jamieson stays in Canada. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 13: $300K Earl Beal Memorial (8) OH WELL put in the best mile in the Hambletonian for my money but was beaten by a horse who got a better trip. While the outside post here isn't ideal, I'm hoping it gives me 2-1 or higher on a horse that would certainly be 6-5 from an inside post. (1) CELEBRITY BAMBINO was expertly driven in the Hambo but simply had an "off" day. He can certainly rebound here. (2) KILMISTER was denied a spot in the Hambletonian when he got bottled up in the elimination. He followed that up with a strong effort on the lead and I wouldn't be shocked if he got the right trip and pulled off an upset. (4) UP YOUR DEO looked like a winner in the stretch last time but hung a bit; trip threat. Race 14: $100K Always B Miki Invitational Pace (1) STONEBRIDGE HELIOS missed a month of action yet did all the work and held sway easily enough in a 1:47 4/5 mile last time. Four-year-old looks like the real deal and it is worth noting that Dunn chose off #2, a double millionaire, to drive. (6) ALLYWAG HANOVER, who parlayed a perfect trip into a sharp score last time, will likely be used a bit to the front here and he's better off a helmet. Not sure I'd bet him as the chalk but he certainly is a big threat. (2) TATTOO ARTIST is as talented as any in here but has lacked the killer instinct in the stretch.
