Pletcher works two for Discovery
OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Madefromlucky and Tommy Macho put in a solid five-furlong workout in 1:00.60 in company Wednesday morning over Belmont Park’s training track in preparation for next Wednesday’s Grade 3, $150,000 Discovery Handicap for 3-year-olds at Aqueduct.
Madefromlucky, working on the inside under John Velazquez, and Tommy Macho, working on the outside under Annie Finney, got their final three furlongs in 35.20 seconds in a move that equaled the fastest of the morning of 14 breezes.
“It was a good work, though the training track seemed more lively today than it oftentimes is,” trainer Todd Pletcher said.
Madefromlucky, the winner of the Peter Pan Stakes and the West Virginia Derby, is coming off a seventh-place finish in the Pennsylvania Derby. Tommy Macho ran third in the Pennsylvania Derby.
Pletcher also plans to run recent allowance winner First Sparkle in the Discovery.
Others pointing to the race include Eagle, Made in Detroit, Ocean Knight, Smart Transition, and Total Joint. Good Luck Gus is possible.
Smart Transition worked five furlongs in 1:02.11 over the Belmont main track Wednesday.
