Pletcher picks up King Jack
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – King Jack, unraced since he won the Grade 2 Gallant Bob Stakes at Parx Racing last September, is now with trainer Todd Pletcher.
On Friday at Saratoga, King Jack had his first workout this year, going three furlongs in 37.66 seconds over the main track.
“He’s a nice horse, beautiful horse,” Pletcher said. “First breeze back today. Nice, easy move but did it effortless.”
King Jack, a 4-year-old son of Jimmy Creed owned by Michael Stinson, won 3 of 4 races last year, including the Gallant Bob for Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. His lone loss came to Improbable in the Shared Belief, a one-mile race run around two turns.
Pletcher said he does not have a specific race in mind for King Jack, but something like the Grade 3, $100,000 Bold Ruler on Oct. 31 at Belmont “could be in the cards,” he said.
