Pletcher has three of six in Jersey Girl Stakes
It was 17 years ago that trainer Todd Pletcher won his first stakes race when Jersey Girl took the Astoria Stakes at Belmont.
Monday, Pletcher will send out three of the six runners entered in the $100,000 Jersey Girl for 3-year-old fillies at six furlongs.
Our Amazing Rose heads the contingent that also includes Red Velvet and Elena Strikes.
Our Amazing Rose won her first two starts – albeit eight months apart – before finishing sixth, with trouble in the Grade 3 Eight Belles Stakes.
With a cleaner trip, she figures to be a major player under John Velazquez.
Red Velvet comes in off a 9 3/4-length allowance win at Penn National. Elena Strikes has struggled in two second-level allowance races.
Size, 2 for 2 for Bill Mott; Sustainable, a runner-up in two stakes over the inner track; and Aibhilin complete the field.
