LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Todd Pletcher-trained stablemates My Miss Sophia and Got Lucky, who swept the exacta in the Grade 2 Gazelle Stakes at Aqueduct earlier this month, worked a half-mile in company in 48 seconds at Churchill Downs in preparation for the Kentucky Oaks.
My Miss Sophia, who worked to the inside of her stablemate, finished a neck in front, and Churchill Downs clockers caught the pair galloping out in 1:01.60.
"I thought they both breezed very well," Pletcher said. "They seemed to handle the racetrack fine. Very happy. It seems like both fillies have settled in well since their races in New York.
"They're different kinds of fillies. My Miss Sophia has a little more early pace; she should be involved early. And then you've got Got Lucky, who really wants to settle back and make one run. That's one thing, for her, in this particular Oaks - there should be an honest pace up front."
Pletcher's other Oaks hopeful, unbeaten In Tune, worked a half in 48.45 Friday at Palm Meadows Training Center, and is scheduled to ship to Louisville on Tuesday.
