Pletcher enters three for Ruthless

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Trainer Todd Pletcher entered a trio of 3-year-old fillies in Sunday’s $100,000 Ruthless Stakes, but it remains to be seen how many he actually starts in the six-furlong race.
Pletcher’s trio of Clipthecouponannie, Lost Raven, and Mo d’Amour drew the three inside posts in an eight-horse field. Lost Raven and Mo d’Amour are cross-entered in Saturday’s $75,000 Marshua Stakes at Laurel Park.
Lost Raven won the Smart Halo Stakes at Laurel last November, so it would make sense that she returns to Laurel. She is also a stablemate of Clipthecouponannie, as both are owned by Mike Repole. Mo d’Amour won her debut sprinting over Aqueduct’s main track before running last in the Grade 2 Demoiselle going 1 1/8 miles.
Clipthecouponannie was impressive in winning her debut by 4 3/4 lengths on Dec. 20 over the inner track.
“Jumping from a maiden New York-bred into a stakes is an aggressive move, but she ran and trained well,” Pletcher said.
The favorite for the Ruthless will be Constellation, an 8 1/4-length winner of the Furlough Stakes over Aqueduct’s main track Nov. 26. Prior to that, she finished second in the Grade 2 Matron and third in the Grade 1 Spinaway.
Constellation, trained by Steve Asmussen, drew post 6.
The others entered in the Ruthless are Absatootly, Karen’s Silk, Wave of Glory, and Kalabaka.
The Ruthless was carded as the third race on the program.
