Pletcher duo work together for stakes

ELMONT, N.Y. – Blofeld, a multiple graded stakes-winning 2-year-old last year, worked a sharp five furlongs in 1:00.50 on Friday in company with the 4-year-old Coach Inge, who was credited with the same time. Both are trained by Todd Pletcher.
Blofeld is being pointed to the Grade 2, $500,000 Woody Stephens at seven furlongs, while Coach Inge is targeting the Grade 2, $400,000 Brooklyn Invitational at 1 1/2 miles, both on the June 6 card.
Blofeld won the Futurity and Nashua last year at 2. In his 3-year-old debut, he finished third, two lengths behind Cinco Charlie, in the William Walker Stakes run over a Churchill Downs main track labeled “good.” In that race, Blofeld chased Cinco Charlie, got shuffled back on the turn, then came on again while finishing a half-length behind second-place finisher Senor Grits.
“I thought he finished pretty well and galloped out good,” Pletcher said.
Meanwhile, Coach Inge had his first work since a 12 1/2-length allowance win at Aqueduct in the mud April 22.
“That was his best race to date,” Pletcher said. “He handled a mile and an eighth and kept galloping. He might be effective at a mile and a half.”
