Plenty of interest in Princess Rooney

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Nominations for the Summit of Speed program on July 1 close at midnight Saturday. The card includes a pair of Win and You’re In races for this year’s Breeders’ Cup, the Grade 2 Princess Rooney (Filly and Mare Sprint) and the Grade 2 Smile Sprint (Sprint).

According to stakes coordinator Mike Costanzo, interest is running high for the seven-furlong Princess Rooney, with the local contingent to be topped by Curlin’s Approval, Distinta, and Dearest. Costanzo said that among the potential shippers for the Princess Rooney are the Grade 1-placed Lightstream, who finished third last out in the Grade 3 Bed o’ Roses at Belmont Park, and the Todd Pletcher-trained Kinsley Kisses, who is perfect in two starts over the local oval.
