Pleasanton all-sources handle down 10 percent

Ontrack mutuel handle on races at the Alameda County Fair dropped only 1 percent from its near-record 2011 totals for the 13-day 2012 meeting, but all-sources handle dipped 10 percent.

A total of $5,059,382 was wagered on live racing at the Pleasanton, Calif., track at the 13-day meeting, which ended on Sunday, compared with $5,121,552 for the same number of days in 2011. There were six fewer races offered in 2012, and a gate malfunction on July 4 delayed racing for one hour in the middle of the card.

The all-sources handle, including Northern California satellites, out-of-state wagering and account wagering, dipped from $18,981,566 in 2011 to $17,121,914 this year.

The meeting ended on a positive note Sunday, with wagering up 14 percent compared with closing day in 2011.
