Pish wins 1,000th race

Mary Rampellini|Oct 06, 2007
Trainer Danny Pish reached a career milestone of 1,000 wins Friday night, when Bye Bye Trey captured the eighth race at Retama Park near San Antonio, Texas. Steve Bourque was aboard the front-running winner who paid $7.60.

Pish, who operates one of the largest stables in Texas, has won the last eight training titles at Retama. He leads the standings at the current meet with 18 wins. Among the top horses Pish has trained since saddling his first career winner at Gillespie County Fair on Aug. 25, 1995, are stakes winners Boots on Sunday, I'm Allthat, Goosey Moose, and Agrivating General.

Pish has made just more than 6,000 career starts, for stable earnings of $13 million.
