Pinnacle: Sire Stakes winners return

C.A. Shoemaker|Oct 30, 2008

Mr. Conclusive and Skyline Star return following their recent Michigan Sire Stakes wins when they head their respective fields in the Michigan Futurity and the Michigan Juvenile Fillies at Pinnacle Race Course. The races, both $50,000 events at seven furlongs, are the final stakes races of Pinnacle's inaugural meet, which concludes Sunday.

Mr. Conclusive, one of three colts and geldings entered by trainer Sandra Adkins, was a nine-length winner in the juvenile division of the Oct. 18 Sire Stakes. That margin was an Equibase estimate after the photo-finish equipment malfunctioned and was inoperable for the remainder of the card.

An undefeated son of Elusive Hour, Mr. Conclusive also won the Patrick Wood Stakes by six lengths this meet under regular rider Terry Houghton, the leading rider here. Charlie Williams, the previous trainer of the colt, owns Mr. Conclusive, as well as another Michigan Futurity entrant, Weepster.

Adkins also entered Elusive Furrari, who races for Jimmy Williams.

In addition to Mr. Conclusive, Houghton will also ride Skyline Star, who won her Sire Stakes by a neck over Hakuna Matata and will face that filly plus eight others in the Michigan Juvenile Fillies. A Meadow Prayer filly owned by Henry Mast and trained by Robert Gorham, Skyline Star won her maiden race in the Sire Stakes. Gorham, who leads all Pinnacle trainers in wins, also entered Jig is Up Now and Moon Charmer.

Hakuna Matata, trained by Larry Uelmen for White Lake Farms Inc., was a fast-closing second in the Sire Stakes, which was contested over six furlongs. Angel Stanley gets the return call.

The Juvenile Fillies is the seventh race on the 1:35 p.m. card and is followed by the Futurity.

* Sunday's closing card has a special post of 12:35 p.m.
