Jack Coady/Coady Photography Pinnacle Peak and jockey Shane Laviolette win the Prairie Juvenile Mile by 10 lengths Friday.

ALTOONA, Iowa – Pinnacle Peak seized command from the outset and controlled the pace throughout for a 10-length romp Friday night in the $75,000 Prairie Juvenile Mile.

Ridden by Shane Laviolette for trainer Michael Stidham, Pinnacle Peak ($13.60), who had finished second in his lone previous start behind Mile fifth-place finisher Sightforsoreeyes, won his maiden in style, bounding clear from longshot Royal Lion and seven others.

The favored Cash Bonus, a Lone Star Park shipper sent off at 7-5, faded to sixth after lodging a brief bid on the far turn.

Pinnacle Peak, a Yes It's True colt who had been shipped in from Arlington Park, covered the mile over a fast track in 1:39.95. Owned by Michael Breen, he collected $44,400 for his connections.
