Pink Lloyd wins Kenora for third straight year on sales stakes card

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - The stalwart Pink Lloyd flirted with his own six-furlong track record when he captured the $100,000 Kenora Stakes for the third year in a row on Wednesday night at Woodbine, on a card that featured six stakes for graduates of Canadian premier yearling sales.
Pink Lloyd ($2.30) prevailed by 5 ¼ lengths over his Robert Tiller-trained stablemate Circle of Friends. With Eurico Da Silva aboard, he covered six furlongs in 1:08.28, which was .23 off his synthetic track record.
“That was his 18th stakes win and the 21st win of his career,” Tiller said. “He’s better than ever. He’s won multiple stakes multiple times. If this is not the greatest sprinter there ever was in Canada? He’s the greatest horse I’ve ever trained.”
Kingsport ($3.40) won the $100,000 Elgin for the second year in a row, with Patrick Husbands riding for trainer Sid Attard. He was vanned off after the race while lame, but appeared to escape serious injury.
Red Cabernet ($6.10) took the $100,000 Algoma for fillies and mares under Emma-Jayne Wilson, who got a leg up from trainer Ian Black.
Cooler Mike ($6.70) notched his first stakes win in the $100,000 Halton under Luis Contreras. The victory in the 1 ½-mile turf marathon was the first in a stakes for trainer Nick Nosowenko.
The Kevin Attard-trained Blessed Truly ($9.40) graduated in style in the $175,800 Muskoka for 2-year-old fillies, scoring by five lengths under Da Silva.
Rockcrest ($19.10) dominated 2-year-old colts and geldings in the $175,000 Simcoe under Sahin Civaci. He’s the first stakes winner for trainer Nigel Burke.
