Pink Lloyd wins the 2019 Vigil Stakes at Woodbine
Michael Burns Pink Lloyd has won all three of his 2019 starts headed into Sunday's Shepperton.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Pink Lloyd’s 11-race win streak came to an end in last year’s edition of the $100,000 Shepperton Stakes, when the two-time Canadian champion sprinter was defeated by Kingsport. This time around, Pink Lloyd will be looking to extend his new three-race win streak in the Shepperton, a 6 1/2-furlong sprint on Tapeta for Ontario-sired 3-year-olds and up.

Following a pair of off-the-board finishes to complete his 2018 campaign, Pink Lloyd has come back to the races this season in fine form, winning his first three starts of his campaign. He captured the Grade 3 Jacques Cartier Stakes first time out May 4, and then added victories in the Greenwood Stakes on June 1 and the Grade 3 Vigil Stakes on July 14. Pink Lloyd earned a 100 Beyer Speed Figure in his 4 1/4-length win in the Vigil.

Trainer Bob Tiller said Pink Lloyd is coming into the Shepperton in good order.

“I don’t make predictions, but we’ve very, very pleased with him right now,” he said. “He’s very sharp.”

KEY CONTENDERS

Pink Lloyd, by Old Forester
Last 3 Beyers: 100-97-99

◗ He’s been an effective stalker in all three starts this season, and he figures to get a similar trip in the Shepperton, with the likely speed being Spanish Express to his inside.

◗ He won the Shepperton in 2017 before finishing third last year.

Marten Lake, by Trajectory
Last 3 Beyers: 84-91-93

◗ He finished second to Pink Lloyd in his first start of the year in the Greenwood Stakes and was 4 1/2 lengths clear of the third-place finisher, Call Me Wally.

◗ He most recently was fourth in his graded stakes debut in the Vigil Stakes, 6 1/2 lengths behind Pink Lloyd.

Call Me Wally, by Old Forester
Last 3 Beyers: 94-84-81

◗ He was a narrow third in an allowance event on turf on July 21, finishing a nose back of Grade 2 Connaught Cup Stakes winner El Tormenta, who was second.

◗ He faced both Pink Lloyd and Marten Lake in the Greenwood, where he was well off of the pace early before rallying to be a distant third.

Dixie’s Gamble, by Gamble’s Exchange
Last 3 Beyers: 81-97-81

◗ He earned the best Beyer Speed Figure of his career two starts back on June 9 when he defeated second-level allowance opposition by six lengths to record his second win of the season.

◗ He couldn’t replicate that effort in his graded stakes debut in the Vigil last time out when he finished sixth.
