There will be a $275,321 Rainbow 6 carryover on closing day of the Pimlico spring meet Saturday after multiple tickets selected all of the winners Friday. There will be a mandatory payout Saturday

“Our experience in Florida has been that a closing-day, mandatory-payout pool can handle 10 times what is in the carryover,” said Tim Ritvo, chief operating officer of The Stronach Group, which owns Pimlico and Laurel Park. "Saturday could be a very big day for us and a great way to finish the meet.”

The Rainbow 6 jackpot is only paid out when a single winning ticket selects all six winners. On closing day of a meet, the entire pool must be paid out, regardless of how many people have winning tickets. If nobody has six winners, the entire pool would be paid out to those with five winners.

The Rainbow 6 is a 10-cent-minimum wager. On days when there is more than one winner or nobody picks six winners, 60 percent of that day’s pool goes to winning players, and 40 percent is added to the jackpot. The Rainbow 6 at Pimlico has not been hit since May 9. The jackpot increased by $91,380 on Preakness Day, May 16.

Pimlico has 11 races Saturday, and the Rainbow 6 will be on races 6-11. A pick five with an industry-low 12 percent takeout will be held on the final five races of the card.

Field sizes for the Rainbow 6 on Saturday are 9, 10, 11, 9, 9, and 12.

The sequence begins with a restricted $25,000 claimer on turf and continues with a 3-year-old maiden sprint, a restricted $5,000 claiming sprint, a $7,500 claimer on turf, a first-level turf allowance, and a $25,000 maiden claimer on turf.

Segovia is a possible Rainbow 6 key in race 10. He finished a clear second to Old Upstart in the slop in a similar allowance race May 16. Old Upstart was winning for the second straight time that day. He had previously won a restricted $50,000 claiming race at Aqueduct. Segovia is trained by Jose Corrales and will be ridden by Taylor Hole.

There will also be a pick five carryover of $3,805 on Saturday. The pick five, held on the final five races of the day will also have a mandatory payout.
