Pimlico: The Student scores for Lake
Jim McCue/Maryland Jockey Club The Student wins the $75,000 Hoover Stakes in workmanlike fashion Sunday afternoon at Pimlico.
Trainer Scott Lake continued his early domination at Pimlico when he went 4 for 4 on a 10-race card, including The Student's three-quarter-length victory in the $75,000 Hoover Stakes.
Picking up right where he left off after winning the training title at Laurel Park, Lake went 9 for 15 over the first four days of Pimlico's meet.
Although The Student ($6) has won 16 of 31 lifetime starts, the Hoover was the 7-year-old gelding's first stakes victory.
