Pick six carryover nears $450,000 for closing day
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – There will be a pick six carryover of $448,912 at Saratoga on Monday’s closing-day card, and the entire pool must be paid out.
The carryover was assured when Outtacypresshills, a 20-1 shot, out-finished Madison Blues by 1 3/4 lengths. Had Madison Blues won, there would have been one winner in the pick six.
Monday’s program is an 11-race card that begins at 12:30 p.m. The pick six begins in race 6 (3:19 p.m. Eastern), a maiden turf race for 2-year-old fillies, and includes the Grade 2, $250,000 Bernard Baruch for older males on the turf and the Grade 1, $400,000 Hopeful for 2-year-olds on the dirt.
Four of the six races in the sequence are scheduled for the turf, which will be firm as the forecast calls for sunny skies and temperatures in the mid- to upper 80s. The Hopeful and a seven-furlong New York-bred allowance, in which Uncle Sigh is the morning-line even-money favorite, are the two races on the dirt.
