Pick six carryover hits $148,537 after big upset

A surprise win by Grandisimo ($116.20) in Friday’s eighth and final race has led to a two-day carryover of $148,537 in Saturday’s $2 pick six at Del Mar.
The 10-race program on Saturday begins at 2 p.m. Pacific. The pick six covers the fifth through 10th races. The pool of new money in the pick six may surpass $875,000 on Saturday.
Saturday’s pick six includes three sprints on dirt and three races on turf at distances ranging from a mile to 1 1/8 miles. Before late scratches, the pick six races have maximum fields of eight, 10, 10, seven, eight, and 11.
The races consist of a $12,500 claiming race for nonwinners of two at 5 1/2 furlongs, a maiden race at 1 1/8 miles on turf, a maiden race for statebred 2-year-old fillies at 5 1/2 furlongs on dirt, the Grade 2 Yellow Ribbon Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on turf for fillies and mares, an allowance for statebreds at six furlongs, and a $50,000 claiming race for statebred maidens at a mile on turf.
The Yellow Ribbon Stakes drew a field of seven, including six stakes winners – Princesa Moche, Princess Attitude, Sweet Rebecca, Take A Breath, Vincey Girl, and Warming – and the stakes-placed Princess Attitude. Innovative has been withdrawn.
Grandisimo was the longest shot in a field of 10 in Friday’s eighth race.
