Grade 3 winner Phat Man heads a salty, overflow field in Tuesday’s $100,000 M.P. Ballezzi Appreciation Mile at Parx. A nine-time winner trained by Kent Sweezey, 7-year-old Phat Man finished third and was placed second in last month’s Polynesian Stakes at Laurel Park. “That was a tough group of hard-knocking horses,” Sweezey said Friday morning. “He still ran a credible race and bounced out of it good.” Third in the Grade 3 Philip H. Iselin two back at Monmouth, Phat Man, a son of Munnings, has been piloted by eight different jockeys in his last eight starts. Mychel Sanchez gets the return mount on Tuesday. “This is a race where he can get Lasix, he can get a whip, he can get a jockey that I like that’s been on him,” Sweezey said. “Its an easy ship for him. Shipping had been a thing for him in the past, but I feel like when we can ship him on top of a race, he doesn’t need much time to settle.” Phat Man will break from post 10, but the wide berth didn’t seem to concern Sweezey. “He’s such a big horse. I’d rather be on the outside than on the inside,” he said. Multiple stakes-placed Galerio has hit the board in 23 of 25 starts and will make his first start for trainer Jamie Ness after being claimed for $40,000. The 5-year-old gelding breaks from post 4 under Ruben Silvera. :: DRF Bets players get free Daily Racing Form Past Performances and up to 5% weekly cashback. We had a couple of other races in mind, but the timing wasn’t right. This one popped up so we’re going in here off a little bit of a layoff. He’s fit.” Senior Investment, third in the 2017 Preakness Stakes, is still going strong at age 7. Trained by Scott Lake, the son of Discreetly Mine finished second in last month’s restricted DTHA Governor’s Day Handicap at Delaware. Kendrick Carmouche has the mount from the rail. I Am Redeemed was in too tough against the likes of Hot Rod Charlie when seventh in the Grade 1 Pennsylvania Derby, but he popped a 92 Beyer while winning the restricted Storm Cat two back over a sloppy Parx track. Trained by Penny Pearce, I Am Redeemed will be ridden by Abner Adorno from post 6. Black-type earners Informative, Someday Jones, Forwarned, Empty Tomb, Lord Winsalot, and Prince of Rain also are entered. Rock On Luke, Lookin At Roses, Dreams Untold, and Bird King are also eligibles
