Pforperfectspistol wins battle of divisional champs

Pforperfectspistol ($7) defended his Ohio sprint championship well when he beat two other divisional champions, Cat Singer and Catlaunch in the six-furlong Babst/Palacios Memorial on n closing day at Beulah Park.

Setting all of the pace, Pforperfectspistol, ridden by Scott Spieth for trainer Jeff Radosevich, drifted

out a bit entering the stretch, but had enough left to hold on by a neck over Catlaunch. Cat Singer, last year's handicap champion, ran third.

* Donamour ($5.40), trained by Joe Woodard, improved his record to 5 for 5 locally by scoring a three-quarter-length victory in the Alyssa Handicap.

Under jockey Rodney Prescott, Donamour pressed the pace from the inside to the eighth pole, then rallied gamely to begin to draw clear from Jeansmiledonme and pacesetting Parthenope, who finished

second and third, respectively.
