ELMONT, N.Y. – Nine 3-year-olds were entered Wednesday for Saturday’s Grade 3, $200,000 Peter Pan Stakes, but there does not appear to be an obvious favorite.
Trainer Todd Pletcher entered the pair of Classic Catch and Go Soldier Go. Classic Catch finished fifth in the Wood Memorial, rallying from 10 lengths back to finish 5 1/2 lengths behind Lord Miles. Pletcher is adding blinkers to Classic Catch’s equipment.
Go Soldier Go will be making his first start for Pletcher after racing six times for Fawzi Nass in Dubai. Go Solider Go won the Al Bastakiya Stakes before finishing fifth, 15 lengths behind Derma Sotogake, in the UAE Derby.
Trainer Brad Cox entered Bishops Bay, a winner of both his starts at Fair Grounds, and Slip Mahoney, who finished second in the Grade 3 Gotham and sixth in the Wood Memorial at Aqueduct. Slip Mahoney is cross-entered in Saturday’s Long Branch Stakes at Monmouth Park.
Also entered in the Peter Pan are Arcangelo, Asmodeus, Game Change, and Summer Cause.
The Peter Pan, considered the local prep for the Belmont Stakes on June 10, will be carded as race 6.
