Peslier, injured, may miss Arc

Alan Shuback|Sep 05, 2002

Olivier Peslier, who broke a collarbone in a spill at Saint-Cloud in France on Wednesday, will be replaced by Richard Hughes aboard Banks Hill in Sunday's Prix du Moulin de Longchamp.

That is, Hughes will ride Banks Hill if she runs. The going at Longchamp on Thursday was soft, and trainer Andre Fabre has repeatedly stated that his filly would not run on that type of ground. Hughes is familiar with Banks Hill, having ridden her to second-place finishes in both last year's Moulin and Prix Jacques le Marois.

Peslier was injured when his mount, Haimonnous, threw him after jumping a shadow and breaking down in a one-mile conditions race. Peslier is expected to be out at least a month, which means that he may not be back in time for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on Oct. 6.
