Perfectly Candid breaks stakes record in City of Anderson
Perfectly Candid set a stakes record for the 51/2-furlong, $70,000 City of Anderson at Hoosier Park on Saturday evening by completing the distance in 1:04.60.
The previous mark of 1:05.40 was shared by Free Bonus and Queen of Tee.
Trained by Bob Gorham, Perfectly Candid ($6.60) kept her unbeaten record intact when she defeated five other Indiana-bred 2-year-old fillies.
Jockey Leandro Goncalves kept Perfectly Candid in midpack early while a torrid pace was set by Dreamin Big and Wind Energy. Goncalves angled his mount four wide into the stretch and wore down the tiring leaders, drawing clear to win by 1 3/4 lengths. It was one of four winners on the night for Goncalves.
Dreamin Big settled for second, 4 ¾ lengths in front of Wind Energy.
