Perfect Style wins the El Paso Times Stakes
Coady Photography Perfect Style comes into the Petticoat following a win in the El Paso Times Stakes in her 3-year-old debut.

Perfect Style will attempt to win her second stakes race of the year on Saturday, when she starts as the probable favorite in the $55,000 Petticoat, a 5 1/2-furlong race for 3-year-old fillies at the Downs at Albuquerque. She began her season last out with a win in the $50,000 El Paso Times Stakes at Sunland Park.

Perfect Style is one of two stakes winners in the field, the other being Stratagem.

KEY CONTENDERS

Perfect Style (Last 3 Beyers: 65-63-77)

◗ She was a 4 3/4-length winner of the El Paso Times, a 6 1/2-furlong race in which she set the pace and went on to score for Round Up Racing, trainer Bart Hone, and regular rider Alfredo Juarez Jr.

◗ Following the El Paso Times, the race’s third-place finisher, Rousanne, went on to finish second in the $50,000 Island Fashion Stakes at Sunland and then was placed first after an impeding incident led to the disqualification of the winner, Suva Harbor.

◗ Perfect Style made a splash last November, when she won a maiden special weight race at Zia Park by 11 1/4 lengths. The score came in her second start, and she backed up the performance with a 9 3/4-length allowance win later that month at Zia.

◗ Perfect Style figures to be prominent from post 5.

Stratagem (Last 3 Beyers: 51-31-51)

◗ She defeated males last year in the Wyoming Thoroughbred Futurity and almost did it again one start later when second by a nose in the $100,000 Gold Rush Futurity at Arapahoe Park.

◗ Luis Rodriguez has the mount for owner-trainer Gary Barrow.
