ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Perfect Crime notched his first stakes while giving trainer Patrick Dixon his initial added-money score in Sunday’s $100,000 Overskate at Woodbine.
With Kazushi Kimura aboard, Perfect Crime raced in fourth down the backstretch before advancing near the far turn to vie for the lead with 2021 Woodbine Mile victor Town Cruise.
Perfect Crime put away Town Cruise in the stretch en route to a 1 3/4-length tally, in a time of 1:30.08 for the 7 1/2 furlongs over a good inner turf course. Favored Mason’s Gamble rallied between rivals on end to grab second by a nose over Town Cruise. Dun Dum finished another neck back in fourth in the seven-horse field of Ontario-sired runners. Patches O’Houlihan was scratched.

A 5-year-old son of Old Forester, Perfect Crime ($21.30) earned $60,000 for Colebrook Farms.
“I’ve trained him since he was a baby and he’s always shown a lot of talent,” Dixon said. “I’ve aimed for this race for a long, long time. After I stretched him out the one time, I thought this would be a perfect race for him because he ran so well on the inner turf. He’d been training fantastic after his last race, and I thought he would run a really big race today.”
*** Favored Fashionably Fab ($7.40) took the female equivalent of the Overskate, the $101,000 Eternal Search Stakes, in a thrilling finish over Breathing Fire with Patrick Husbands riding.
The lone 3-year-old filly in the lineup, Fashionably Fab prevailed by a nose after a race-long battle for the lead with Breathing Fire, completing the 7 1/2 furlongs in 1:30.67.
Talk to Ya Later closed belatedly on the outside to finish third in the 10-horse field. Miss Speedy was withdrawn.
It was the turf debut for Fashionably Fab, a daughter of Silent Name, who banked $60,000 for Terra Racing Stable.
“We were confident with her pedigree, with her being by Silent Name, that she should like the grass,” said winning trainer Kevin Attard. “We weren’t sure how much cut was into the turf after the rain we had, but she looked pretty good out there today.”
