Pegasus among options for Seeking the Soul

Seeking the Soul, a sharp second to City of Light in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile and third on Nov. 23 in the Grade 1 Clark at Churchill Downs, has several 2019 options including the Pegasus World Cup Invitational, trainer Dallas Stewart said Sunday.
Seeking the Soul finished fifth, beaten 14 lengths by victorious Gun Runner, in the 2018 Pegasus.
Seeking the Soul has gotten into a steady training rhythm at Fair Grounds, but Stewart said that he and owner Chuck Fipke “don’t have a plan.”
“The horse is doing great,” Stewart said. “The Pegasus is one option. It’s expensive [to enter and start], though, so we’ll see. If we don’t do that, there’s the Razorback for $500,000 at Oaklawn, the New Orleans Handicap. The horse really, really had a good year.”
There is, however, a set plan for the 3-year-old filly Cathedral Reader, who emerged as a real talent the second part of this year and has notched consecutive encouraging wins. Cathedral Reader worked Sunday at Fair Grounds, and if she continues doing well will ship Dec. 17 to Santa Anita for the Grade 1 La Brea Stakes on Dec. 26. Stewart said Brian Hernandez Jr. is expected to travel to take the mount in the La Brea.
