RACE 6: LADY C ships in from Oaklawn, which has produced a multitude of winners around the country since that meet ended; that last Beyer she earned obviously makes her very tough here. FANCY PANTS may be best of the locals; eyes her third straight win since returning from the freshening. JOSIE THE E F FIVE, part of an entry with J P’s GLADYS, was a game winner when last seen. RACE 7: The Daniel Stearns Cleveland Gold, at 1 1/8 miles, is a very tough race to plot, as none of the eight entrants has gone this far, and all but BLANDA are coming off sprints. Certainly seems like a guess when it comes to projecting a race flow, and given the uncertainty when it comes to any of them handling the distance I’ll wrap it up with an “all.” RACE 8: ROWDY YATES returns from the break and has been working well toward his return; tactical speed a big help as he attempts to work out a trip against a bulky field in this most interesting edition of the Ohio Derby. DACK JANIEL’S gets back on the main track, and though he was game in defeat on the turf last time this does seem to be his best distance. SPRAWL overcame the race flow to beat older allowance runners in his latest, and he figures to be rolling late under Paco Lopez. STORM THE COURT has to deal with post 13 but he should appreciate the class relief; has the speed to get position despite that wide draw. RACE 9: FLATTER ME PLEASE is easy to like after missing by just a neck when last seen, as well as given the resulting Beyer. He came from off the pace in an abbreviated sprint in his latest but he also has the speed to stay close, and that versatility gives him some options here.
