Peck: Kentucky Downs pick three play for Sunday, Sept. 10
A mid-card pick three, comprising races 4-6, could be the right value play - if the race 5 single gets home:
RACE 4: Using them all in a wide-open fourth race, a maiden claimer going a mile with several horses trying the grass for the first time. Hoping it's as unpredictable as it seems to be on paper (12).
A's: 1, 3, 9, 12
B's: 5, 10, 13, 14, 16
C's: 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, 15

RACE 5: Taking a shot with a stand on PAGLIACCI, who has worked well since his last start, which came at Saratoga. He was off the pace in that race, and with slow fractions up front he had little chance to close, resulting in a subpar Beyer. Thinking he can can rebound to his prior Beyers with a forward trip from his inside post, and those figures are surely good enough (1).
A's: 1
B's: NONE
C's: NONE
RACE 6: KASUGA is the main speed, and he's drawn inside. SPECTACULAR ME loves to win and he makes his first start off the claim today; steady Beyers add to the appeal. INVENIAM VIAM usually goes longer but he may appreciate this turn-back, and trainer Brad Cox does well with such runners (29%, $2.43 ROI).
A's: 2, 4, 6
B's: NONE
C's: NONE
