Peck: Keeneland pick four for Sunday, Oct. 9
The early pick four (races 2-5) on Sunday's Keeneland card looks intriguing.
RACE 2: WINKATDAWAT figures tough on the lead in his first start off the layoff, as he was against the race flow in each of his last two starts and now could be the controlling speed. AITUTAKI is the main pace threat and could get first run at the lone "A" play.
A's: 6
B's: 9
C's: NONE
RACE 3: FASHION RUNAWAY had trouble at the start in each of her first two starts, but her works suggest she's better than that, and the barn excels with horses making this class drop. Also using MS ADVISOR, who fits off the debut Beyer Speed Figure, WHAT WHAT WHAT, who was second at this level in her latest, and RADIANTRITHYM, who is in for a tag for the first time.
A's: 10, 12
B's: 2, 9
C's: NONE
RACE 4: AIR ON FIRE ran against a good one in his debut at Saratoga and didn't run badly despite a slow start. SPEEDMEISTER heads the Mark Casse entry and makes his first start sporting some solid breezes. FIREBALL SHOT was moving well late after getting away slowly in his first start. CRACK ON has certainly run well on the turf and will be tough with a similar effort in his dirt debut.
A's: 1, 6, 8
B's: 2
C's: NONE
RACE 5: IMPERIA is going to be tough here and has to be strongly considered as a sole "A" play, but I'm going to use import HAYABUSA ONE in equal strength. That colt, trained by Graham Motion, has been away since February, but the barn does well with horses off the layoff and with first-time imports. Backup tickets will include HARDLY HOME and CORDON.
A's: 5, 6
B's: 1, 3
C's: NONE
