Peck: How I'll play Laurel for Saturday, Nov. 19
Saturday is the Fall Festival of Racing at Laurel, and the Pick 4 offered on races four through seven is worth perusing:
RACE 4
RUNNIN'TOLUVYA comes off consecutive wins and merits respect off his best Beyers. ROCKSHAW was game in that maiden score last time and he is a contender based on that Beyer. EL AREEB took a big step forward in his latest. HIGH ROLLER is the main threat, and he'll be tough to deny if he gets an honest pace up front. CHILL FACTOR is another dangerous closer under the right circumstances.
A's: 6, 10, 11
B's: 3, 8
C's: NONE
RACE 5
A big field that is tough to plot in terms of pace and well matched in terms of Beyers, this race is an easy one in which to go deep, and, with a single in a later leg, I'll use them all in one form or another and hope for something wild.
A's: 1, 9, 11
B's: 2, 7, 12, 13, 14
C's: 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10
RACE 6
MALIBU STACY was a solid second behind the sharp Lightstream in the Grade 2 Raven Run in her latest and she should be well set up here, as this field seems to have more than enough pace. TALE FOR RUBY went down as the favorite in each of her last two starts, but she ran well each time, and she should be well spotted behind a lively tempo.
A's: 2, 9
B's: NONE
C's: NONE
RACE 7
HAMMERS VISION was game in defeat against older at this same distance two back and the resulting Beyer stands out in this group. The fact that he projects to get a favorable trip from just off the pace adds to the appeal.
A's: 7
B's: NONE
C's: NONE
