Peck: How I'll play Delaware for Saturday, July 9
I'll try a pick three on the last three Thoroughbred races on the Saturday card at Delaware Park, ending with the featured Grade 3 Delaware Oaks:
RACE 8: I'll use favorite NORTHERN MINE (#1), but only defensively, as she has had 12 chances and is one to try to beat on major tickets. Same goes for FIRST TO FIRE (#2), second choice on the Morning Line. "A" plays will be firster I'M NOT JOKING (#7) ad New York ship-in WIREDANCER (#8), who could benefit from a quick pace.
A's: 7, 8
B's: 1, 2
RACE 9: BIZ THE NURSE (1) has competitive Beyers and a solid late kick. BELISARIUS (5) has tactical speed and could be the one they have to catch. ST. ALBANS BOY (2) merits respect but could be vulnerable at a relatively short price.
A's: 1, 5
B's: 2
RACE 10: Really like BROWSE (#2) in the Delaware Oaks. She was game in defeat in her latest when on the lead but she can also rate, and could fall into a perfect stalking trip behind the speeds. She's the lone "A", and the speeds -- KINSLEY KISSES (#7) and EIGHTH WONDER (#8) -- are the "B" plays.
A's: 2
B's: 7, 9
