Peck: How I'd Play Monmouth Park's late pick four on Saturday, May 25, 2019
Looking at the late pick four at Monmouth today. Though there is a prohibitive – and seemingly unbeatable – favorite in the third leg, it still looks like a playable sequence.
RACE 10: PARTY ON PROSPECT comes off a win in his seasonal debut. SMITHWICK'S SPICE fits well on his Beyers, and he'll be tough if he can run to them in his first start since September. VISIONARY RULER is easy to like given some of his most recent Beyers. GUINNESS SPICE ran better than his running line may appear last time. OPTIC WAY didn't run to his better efforts in his latest, but he has solid back Beyers (5).
A's: 5, 8, 9
B's: 1, 2
C's: NONE
RACE 11: ALMANAAR figures tough in the Monmouth Stakes if he's ready off the layoff, which he figures to be for trainer Chad Brown. SYNCHRONY faced Grade 1 company in his latest and he ran well in his two prior tries, posting 100 Beyers. PROJECTED just missed in his latest and fits here with a slight move forward in terms of his figures (3).
A's: 7
B's: 2, 8
C's: NONE

RACE 12: DIVA'S REVENGE is an overwhelming favorite here and it's not easy to come up with a scenario where she is vulnerable in this sprint, as she has a mammoth edge in speed figures. She is everyone's single, which is not ideal, but using other horses in here and doubling or tripling the ticket cost seems folly (1).
A's: 3
B's: NONE
C's: NONE
RACE 13: Using them all in this wide open finale, which scratched down to nine from the original 11. It seems like it could be ripe for an upset, so I'm hoping for something silly to happen, which becomes more likely if Morning Line Favorite SHAHKAAR is caught up in an early duel (9).
A's: 4, 11
B's: 2, 3, 5
C's: 7, 8, 9, 10
Plugging these A, B and C plays into DRFTicketmaker.com yields the following plays:
