Peck: Gulfstream pick four for Saturday, Jan. 17
RACE 8
MY PAL CHRISY has steady Beyer Speed Figures and might be good enough despite the layoff today. No way we're getting the 15-1 morning-line price quoted on WILDCAT LILY, but she'll offer at least a playable price as an "A" to kick off the sequence. It won't compare to what DREAMLICIOUS will be on the board, but I'll be using her as well, albeit as a "B," as her workouts suggest she's sitting on a much-improved effort. DAME DOROTHY is wide, and the connections could mean she's overbet, but I'll still use her, at least defensively.
A's: 2, 8
B's: 3
C's: 11
RACE 9
WATERWAY RUN is better than she showed at Parx in her most recent in September, as she ran into some traffic trouble there. PINK POPPY is the value play, as she didn't get a lot of pace help in her latest. SPEED SEEKER could have trouble running to her win last time without another coy trip, but she merits respect.
A's: 6
B's: 2, 3
C's: NONE
RACE 10
Certainly looks like a three-horse race. The key for pick four players is how to weigh them, as using all three equally dilutes the entire bet. WILDCAT RED will be a "B" only because of his front-running style and the presence of fellow speed I'm Steppin' It Up, and TRANSPARENT is an "A" given his upside off that forgivable try in the Cigar Mile. Had a hard time putting a label on EAST HALL, but since the bankroll allows, I'll make him an "A" play as well.
A's: 2, 4
B's: 5
C's: NONE

RACE 11
EPSILON, a first-time gelding, also gets blinkers. LETUSPRAY has decent works for Pletcher. BIG BEN is easy to like off the debut. GREY WIZARD rallied into soft fractions in his debut. With several interesting fringe players in this final leg, I'll spread deepest here.
A's: 3, 4, 8, 10
B's: 2, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13
C's: NONE
