Belmont Park

Peck: Belmont Park pick three for Saturday, Oct. 3

Kenny Peck|Oct 03, 2015

Rain certainly has put a damper on the Saturday card at Belmont, but there's still value to be had, especially in one of the last pick threes of the afternoon.

RACE 8

READY DANCER (#3) was a game winner in that maiden score last time, his first start with blinkers, and if he can run back to that figure, he looms a huge threat in the Champagne Stakes. RALIS (#5) is a little more obvious off the smashing victory in the Hopeful Stakes, but he's certainly one to include on virtually all tickets. The lone backup use is TALE OF S'AVALL (#7), who gets Lasix for the first time.

A's: 3, 5
B's: 7
C's: NONE

RACE 9

ROYAL ALBERT HALL (#7) is questionable on a wet turf course, but if he handles it, he could make the last run in the Hill Prince. JAY GATSBY (#4) may be the main speed. TALE OF LIFE (#11) impressed in his U.S. debut at Saratoga last time out.

A's: 7, 11
B's: 4
C's: NONE

RACE 10

Was never a big fan of COACH INGE (#2), but he won me over with a game effort in the Suburban on July 4 and ran very well behind the ultra-sharp Liam’s Map in the Woodward. Tactical speed should mean he works out a favorable trip in the Jockey Club Gold Cup. WICKED STRONG (#1) could pick up some pieces late if the race develops the right way for him; he's 0 for 4 at the distance, but he's run some big races in big spots going 10 furlongs. TONALIST (#6) is the one to beat, and though he needs pace and offers little value, he's tough to leave off.

A's: 1, 2
B's: 6
C's: NONE
