Peck: Belmont Park late pick three for Saturday, May 28
A very interesting card is on tap at Belmont Park on Saturday, with the last pick three perhaps the most compelling.
RACE 8
CONQUEST SEE YA is easy to like off that game score in his turf debut last time out. But MIGHTY MO is also quick from the gate despite coming out of longer races, and he figures to make his run at some point in the early proceedings. The question is do these two wrap up the race? I'll include JOHN Q. PUBLIC, who can rate a bit, on lesser tickets.
A's: 1, 8
B's: 6
C's: NONE
RACE 9
I'm taking a big stand with SANCTIFY by using him as my sole "A" play. He has solid works showing for his first start since January, and he is proven at this tricky distance of six furlongs on the turf. DISCO PARTNER is another making his first start off a layoff, and he's another with proven success in these midrange turf sprints. LORD OF LOVE picks up Irad Ortiz Jr. and could be the main danger late.
A's: 8
B's: 6, 7
C's: NONE
RACE 10
Going deeper in this statebred maiden claimer on the turf, by definition a wide-open race. THREE EIGHTY EIGHT, ITSTHEMONEY, SOPHIAS CHOICE, and SHE'S ALL LOVE are the "A" plays, but LOVE BLUES merits inclusion as a backup at least, as does JENNIFER'S LEGACY.
A's: 2, 5, 8, 11
B's: 4, 6
C's: NONE
