Peck: All-stakes pick four at Delaware Park on Saturday, July 8
The late Pick 4 Saturday at Delaware Park is comprised of strictly stakes races, culminating in the Grade 3 Delaware Oaks. Here's one way to play it, with a $50 bankroll:
RACE 8: BISHOP'S POND was against the race flow in the Eatontown at Monmouth Park last time out, while ZIPESSA benefited. Still, the latter merits respect based on her best figures. PAIGE has been idle since March but trainer Christophe Clement does well with horses off the layoff. Also including, on lesser tickets, TRICKY ESCAPE and HAPPYNESS.
A's: 1, 4
B's: 9
C's: 3, 7
RACE 9: Taking a swing at a price here with MY MAGICIAN, a mare showing strong works as she prepares for her first start off the claim by trainer Claudio Gonzalez. Expecting her to improve as she returns from a freshening. Backups will include PINK MAMA and BODACIOUS BABE.
A's: 7
B's: 2, 5
C's: NONE
RACE 10: QUIET KITTEN was caught up in a duel in the Eatontown and that cost her. She goes longer and meets males in the Cape Henlopen today but she has run well at extended distances in the past. STREET FASHION was a game winner in his latest and he is proven at 12 furlongs. Using longshot POSTULATION as a "B" in the hopes he picks up some of the pieces if a fast pace develops. Also including TOP OF MIND and AQUAPHOBIA.
A's: 1, 11
B's: 3
C's: 4, 9
RACE 11: IT TIZ WELL looks very well spotted in the Delaware Oaks, as she earned a solid figure in defeat last time at Santa Anita despite encountering a very troubled trip. She could well just be too good for these.
A's: 3
B's: NONE
C's: NONE
