Paulassilverlining set for Honorable Miss

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – After winning two Grade 1 races in four weeks, Paulassilverlining was given a bit of a freshening by trainer Chad Brown. On Wednesday, Paulassilverlining will launch the second half of her 5-year-old campaign in the Grade 2, $200,000 Honorable Miss Handicap at Saratoga.
On Friday, Paulassilverlining had her final workout for the Honorable Miss, breezing a half-mile in 48.75 seconds over the Saratoga main track. She went her first quarter in 24.48 seconds, her last quarter in 24.27, and galloped out five furlongs in 1:02.58.
“She had been training really well downstate, and I wanted to get her a little breeze over the main track, and it went perfect,” Brown said.

Paulassilverlining won four graded stakes and six stakes overall when in the barn of Michelle Nevin. Juddmonte Farms purchased Paulassilverlining from Jim Riccio Sr. this year and transferred her to Brown. In her first two starts for Brown, Paulassilverlining won the Grade 1 Madison at Keeneland and the Grade 1 Humana Distaff at Churchill Downs. Brown said he’d like to run her in the Grade 1 Ballerina here on Aug. 26.
“She had two hard races,” Brown said. “I freshened her up a little bit, trying to point to the Ballerina. Thought the Honorable Miss was a logical prep to get a race over the track.”
Last year, Paulassilverlining was beaten a neck in the Honorable Miss before finishing fifth in the Ballerina.
Paulassilverlining is the 124-pound highweight for the Honorable Miss. Her challengers are expected to include By the Moon (122), Finley’sluckycharm (121), and Clothes Fall Off (117). Disco Chick (116) and Pawleys Express (115) are possible.
Carina Mia, the 2016 Acorn winner, breezed a half-mile in 49.12 seconds over the Oklahoma training track on Friday. It was Carina Mia’s first breeze since being transferred from Bill Mott to Brown.
Brown said he did not have anything picked out for Carina Mia, but she is eligible for the $100,000 Shine Again Stakes on Aug. 2.
