Patrioticandproud may give Valedictory another try

Nikki Sherman If Patrioticandproud can recapture the good turf form he displayed at Del Mar and Santa Anita, he's a major threat in the Louisville Handicap at Churchill Downs.
ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Long-distance specialist Patrioticandproud got his season back on track with a win Oct. 29, and he could be headed to the Grade 3, $150,000 Valedictory Stakes over 1 3/4 miles on Tapeta on the meet’s closing day, Dec. 4.
“We’re thinking about it,” trainer Mark Casse said.
Patrioticandproud ran second in last year’s edition of the Valedictory Stakes, beaten 10 lengths by Melmich. A 7-year old gelding, Patrioticandproud has won twice in six starts this year. He won over 1 3/8 miles on turf here July 29.
◗ The final four races of Sunday’s card were canceled due to high winds. Among the canceled races was the Grade 2, $200,000 Kennedy Road Stakes, which has been rescheduled for Friday and will not be redrawn.
