Patriot Spirit finds first stakes victory in Inaugural

Patriot Spirit became a stakes winner when he darted to a 1 3/4-length win over Crazy Mason in the $100,000 Inaugural on Saturday at Tampa Bay Downs.
The race was one of two stakes on the card for 2-year-olds. The $100,000 Sandpiper went to Let Them Watch ($7.60).
Patriot Spirit ($3.20) tracked Rathmore in third in the Inaugural, as Rathmore ran the opening quarter of the six-furlong stakes in 22.48 seconds. Patriot Spirit moved to the lead at the quarter pole, and after a half-mile in 45.16 seconds went on to win on a fast track in 1:10.26.
Samy Camacho was aboard for trainer Michael Campbell.

Patriot Spirit is a son of Constitution and the Grade 1-winning mare Mistical Plan. He races for Mellon Patch. Patriot Spirit is now 2 for 4 for earnings of $78,500.
Let Them Watch took the lead from the start of the Sandpiper, setting fractions of 22.05 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.34 for the half-mile before winning the six-furlong race for fillies in 1:10.64.
Hector Diaz Jr. was aboard the daughter of Maximus Mischief for trainer Mike Maker.
Let Them Watch was a three-quarter-length winner over a fast-closing Chi Chi. It was another 3 3/4 lengths back in third to Toupie.
Let Them Watch was winning the second stakes race of her career and is now 3 for 4 with earnings of $129,095. She races for Case Chambers.
