Parx: Heavy favorites score in South Carolina residency stakes

Heavy favorites prevailed in both $75,000 stakes at Parx Racing on Saturday for 3-year-olds who spent at least 90 days on farms in South Carolina.
The only suspense came in the Chris Elser Memorial for colts and geldings, where Elevated ($3.40), under Frankie Pennington, held off stablemate Sonny Inspired and jockey Stevica Djuric by a nose. Elevated, part of a coupled entry for Maryland-based trainer Phil Schoenthal and owners D. Hatman Thoroughbreds and Kingdom Bloodstock, ran 6 1/2 furlongs on a fast track in 1:16.48.
A Pennsylvania-bred son of Jump Start, Elevated is now 3 for 5 lifetime, including a perfect record in three starts at Parx.
In the co-featured Donna Freyer for fillies, Aunt Ellipsis ($2.80), ridden by Luis Hiraldo for trainer Keith Lebarron, cruised to a 3 3/4-length victory. A Pennsylvania-bred daughter of Successful Appeal owned by Vince Campanella, Aunt Ellipsis covered 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:17.54 for her second win in five starts.
