Parx, Charles Town, Penn cancel cards due to weather
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLEParx Racing has canceled its Monday card in anticipation of a strong cold front that is predicted to move into the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast beginning Sunday afternoon, according to David Osojnak, the track's director of racing.
Charles Town and Penn National have canceled their Saturday night cards.
Charles Town, W.Va., is likely to get snow and rain Saturday. Grantville, Pa., where Penn National is located, could get 2 to 4 inches of snow.
Parx is located in the northern Philadelphia suburb of Bensalem, which is expected to receive a wintry mix of precipitation from Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning. Temperatures are then expected to rise to 50 degrees before swiftly crashing.
According to AccuWeather, the temperature in Bensalem is forecast to drop to 8 degrees Sunday night with only a high of 18 on Monday.
Races 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 from Monday's card have been brought back as extras for next Saturday.
As of Saturday afternoon, Parx was scheduled to race Tuesday, when the temperature is expected to reach 32 degrees.
