Part Girlie Girl returns off runner-up effort

John McDulin|Jun 27, 2008

Part Girlie Girl will face 10 other Ohio-accredited 3-year-old fillies in the $55,000 Cincinnatian at River Downs on Sunday. The Cincinnatian, a 1 1/16-mile turf race, will be the second straight stakes race for Part Girlie Girl, who has made only four career starts. She finished a respectable second, beaten by only a length, while making her stakes debut in the $50,000 Tomboy here on May 17.

The Tomboy was at the same distance as the Cincinnatian and was also scheduled for turf, but was transferred to the main track due to rain. The Tomboy was for registered Ohio-bred 3-year-old fillies, a less restrictive condition than the Cincinnatian. For a foal to be Ohio-registered, only the dam must be Ohio-registered, whereas accredited foals must have the dam and sire Ohio-registered.

Part Girlie Girl is the only filly in the field to have won going two turns. Her maiden victory at Turfway Park in February came at a mile and she also won an Ohio-bred allowance race at a mile here May 2 by 3 3/4 lengths. Nathan Solomon retains the mount for trainer Kris Nemann.

Storm by You, one of only two fillies in the race to have won three races, has been impressive in her last two, facing older Ohio-breds. Storm by You won an entry-level allowance race May 10 by 1 3/4 lengths and then came back on June 3 to win a nonwinners-of-three by seven lengths, earning a career-high Beyer of 70. Trainer Mike Rone will give a leg up to Perry Ouzts.

Silver Digger, trained by Jack Turner, was impressive in her last, winning a maiden race locally against open company on June 6 by three lengths. Charlie Woods Jr. will ship in to ride.
