HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – The 3-year-old Parchment Party, a winner of both his starts at Churchill Downs last fall, has been sent to the farm for 60 days, trainer Bill Mott said Sunday. Mott worked the horse twice at Payson Park, about a month apart, before deciding to turn him out. “He’s a June foal. He looks like he needs a little time to grow up,” Mott said. Mott said he is also a bit behind with Knightsbridge, who was a 10 1/2-length winner of his debut last November at Churchill Downs. The horse has had just two half-mile breezes at Payson Park. Mott said he was hoping to make this weekend’s Swale Stakes with him but now will try him have ready for a race in March. Meanwhile, Mott said that Resilience, a 4 1/4-length maiden winner of a 1 1/16-mile maiden race at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 1, will make his next start in the Grade 2, $400,000 Risen Star at Fair Grounds on Feb. 17. :: Access morning workout reports straight from the tracks and get an edge with DRF Clocker Reports “The timing of that race would be good,” Mott said. “Might as well find out if they can do it. No sense waiting.” Lord Miles back on work tab Lord Miles, the 59-1 upset winner of the Grade 2 Wood Memorial last April, recently returned to the work tab as he prepares for a 4-year-old campaign. On Jan. 21, Lord Miles worked three furlongs in 38 seconds over Gulfstream’s main track. Lord Miles has not raced since finishing second to Damon’s Mound in last August’s Robert Hilton Memorial Stakes at Charles Town. Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. said the horse needed a break after that race and did later have a colic procedure. Joseph said he is hopeful of having Lord Miles ready to run in March. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
