Parade of longshots at Remington Park
There were just two winning favorites during the first 18 races of the Remington Park meet, which launched Friday night with a parade of longshots.
Jockey Alex Birzer set the tone Friday when he won the fifth race with Marine Pilot ($77.60) and the sixth with Doc Holiday Rules ($60.20).
Later on the card, Turbo Street ($21.60) won the $100,000 Remington Green over 71-1 shot Lawless West.
The price horses continued Saturday night, with one 10-cent superfecta returning $14,008. The payout was more than double the payout of the highest dime superfecta hit last meet ($5,982), according to a press release from Remington.
Remington averaged 11 horses a race over opening weekend. The track was to race an extended week this week, with a special holiday Monday card that starts at 3 p.m. Central.
