SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Paladin, winner of the Grade 2 Risen Star in February who was knocked off the Triple Crown trail in March due to a non-displaced condylar fracture, returned to trainer Chad Brown’s barn late last week. He has jogged a few mornings over the Oklahoma training track. There is no timetable for his return.
Brown said that Paladin had been doing rehabilitation at Ashford Stud in Kentucky but did not do any training before coming to him.
“It’s going to take me quite a while to leg him up, but he couldn’t possibly look any better coming from Ashford, they did a great job that team over there, the horse looks fabulous,” Brown said.
The focus for Paladin, who is 3 for 3 with a maiden win and a victory in the Grade 2 Remsen in addition to his Risen Star success, is pointing to a 4-year-old campaign. Depending how things go, Paladin could make it back to the races later this year.
“I got plenty of time to get him to the races by the end of the year, I do not have time to get him to the meaningful stuff,” Brown said.
