Palace tops freshman sires with $570,000 filly at Midlantic sale

Spendthrift Farm stands leading juvenile sire Into Mischief, who recorded two of the top three prices at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic juvenile sale in Maryland this week, and stands Cross Traffic and Goldencents, one-two on last year’s freshman sire list. The farm has seven members of this year’s strong freshman sire class, and it was time for one of those, Palace, to step up at Fasig-Tipton Midlantic. Palace was represented by a filly sold for $570,000 to Speedway Stable to rank as the top price recorded by a freshman sire at the sale.
New York-bred millionaire Palace, by City Zip, was a multiple Grade 1-winning sprinter. His filly outpaced a colt by Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, sold for $530,000 to Tom Durant, for the top freshman price.
The filly is out of the winning Broken Vow mare Prenuptial Vow, the dam of stakes winner Theperfectvow. Eclipse Award champion Banshee Breeze and Grade 1 winner Hilda’s Passion, the dam of Grade 1 winner Yoshida, appear on the catalog page, as do Grade 1/Group 1 winners Mutual Trust, Passage of Time, Timepiece, and Twice Over.
