Pain and Misery back at a mile in Winsham Lad
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLE
Pain and Misery will shake Runhappy when he returns to his New Mexico base for the $65,000 Winsham Lad Handicap on Saturday at Sunland Park. The one-mile race drew seven older horses, including the multiple stakes winners Ol Winedrinker Who and Smack Ridge.
Pain and Misery, the runner-up in the Zia Park Derby when last seen in New Mexico, was sixth to eventual champion sprinter Runhappy in last month’s Grade 1 Malibu Stakes at Santa Anita. Pain and Misery has since breezed back at his Sunland base and will be seeking to win his third career stakes race Saturday.
The Winsham Lad begins the meet’s march toward the Sunland Park Handicap, which has been doubled in value this year to $150,000. That race is set for April 17.
