OZONE PARK, N.Y. - Oversubscribed benefitted from a torrid pace duel between her stablemate Chantilly Road and the highly regarded Macanga, finishing best of all down the center of the course to register a popular 3 3/4-length victory over Vino Rouge in Saturday’s $150,000 Wild Applause Stakes at Aqueduct. The stretch-running Oversubscribed fell 2 1/2 lengths shy of catching a loose-on-the-lead Macanga when the two met under allowance conditions here seven weeks ago. But she received all the help she needed in the rematch from within her own barn, from the speedy Chantilly Road, who hooked up with Macanga right from the outset of the one-mile Wild Applause. Chantilly Road and Macanga opened as much as a 15-length advantage on the remainder of the field in the run down the backstretch after setting blistering early splits of 23.02 seconds and 46.03 for the opening half-mile.  Macanga ultimately disposed of her early challenger, opening a seemingly comfortable six-furlong advantage upon settling into the stretch before the grueling pace took its toll. Oversubscribed, as expected, rated near the rear of the seven-horse field for nearly six furlongs. She commenced her rally leaving the turn, finishing full of run despite never switching off her left lead to readily run down and draw off from the tiring leader in the final sixteenth. Vino Rouge, who raced in the attending position behind the battling leaders for much of the trip, continued on willingly enough to be second-best, also running down the staggering Macanga, who held on to be third. :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match + FREE All Access PPs! Oversubscribed, a lightly raced, English-bred daughter of Too Darn Hot, is trained by Chad Brown for Klaravich Racing Stables.  She completed the distance over a firm course in 1:35.59 and paid $4.20.   "I felt like there was going to be some pace, but when they open up so much, you never know if you’re going to be able to run them down,” said winning rider Flavien Prat, who combined with Brown to win three races on the card. “Thankfully, she did. When I tipped her out and asked her to make a run, she responded very well.” :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
