Overdose trounced eight outclassed rivals at Kincsem Park in Budapest on Sunday with an easy score in the Bestens-Pannonia Eletbiztosito Dij, a five-furlong Hungarian listed race worth $18,300. Now undefeated after 14 starts, the Budapest Bullet led throughout to win by 10 lengths over Spinning Crystal, the same horse he had beaten by eight lengths the last time he ran in Budapest in a similar race in April 2009. Ridden by Gary Hind, Overdose was timed in a swift 56.40 for the straight fivefurlongs. This was a five-furlong listed race at Bratislava. That had been his first outing in 15 months after a foot injury-induced absence and the rust had been showing. On Sunday, Overdose showed no ill effects of his chronic foot problems as he whistled to victory. Should he remain fit Overdose will run next on Aug. 29 at Baden-Baden in the six-furlong, Group 2 Goldene Peitsche, Germany’s championship sprint race, an event he won in 2008.
