Outsider Two Sixty leads all the way in Selene Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Two Sixty, a 9-1 outsider ridden by Emma-Jayne Wilson, went right to the front and never looked back to win Saturday’s $129,250 Selene Stakes over 84-1 shot Saratoga Vision at Woodbine.
Two Sixty set uncontested fractions of 24.12 and 48.81 in the 1 1/16-mile route for 3-year-olds fillies, after the other speed in the race, Owlette, was rated into second.
Owlette took a run at Two Sixty late, as did the maiden Saratoga Vision, but Two Sixty held her ground and won by three-quarters of a length in a time of 1:45.01.

Owlette out-finished another Woodbine Oaks nominee, Merveilleux, for third. Diamond Sparkles, Livin in the Six, and American Tap completed the order of finish.
Two Sixty gave trainer Mark Casse his third straight win in the Grade 3 Selene. Casse also conditioned her sire, the 2012 Canadian horse of the year Uncaptured.
“I followed instructions,” Wilson said. “It was clear on paper that Owlette was going to be ‘pace’ but they took the blinkers off her. Right off the hop, I wanted to get away and set myself at the front with conviction. That’s what happened. As we eased into the backstretch, I took a little bit of a hold of her, and she took a breather. She dug hard. She ran fast, and she held them off.”
Two Sixty ($21.40) earned $75,000 for owner Gary Barber.
